RAVI ZACHARIAS

FIRST TIME IN ARMENIA

The idea of inviting this great preacher, an Indian by origin, came about three years ago when Brother Robert Khachatryan from USA asked to invite Ravi Zacharias to Armenia, where he could share his experience and the witness of his faith. After a long prayer for three years, finally he visited us. For that unique occasion we organized a conference of evangelical Churches of Armenia.
Ravi Zacharias was born in India. He spend his childhood in poverty, as he remembered “we were so poor, that except my everyday school uniform I didn’t have any cloth, and my mom couldn’t even give me pocket money to spend.” At the age twenty he moved to Canada with his family, where God transformed his life.
Ravi Zacharias is a professor at the Oxford University, author of over twenty-nine books. Over twenty years he has been traveling all over the world, preaching God’s truth. He has visited to about sixty countries, taught in the Military Academy in Moscow. He has mostly visited to disaster regions, where he tried to convince people that the existence of every human being, every God’s creature is not a coincidence. As he says, often we think many things around us are results of coincidence, but we have to understand that nothing in the world exists by chance and everything bears in itself a witness of its creator.
We are thankful to Ravi, as he through his visit and preaching once again reminded us the fact that everyone of us has a purpose for his life. As he puts it “Everyone of us has a purpose of life, and that purpose for us as Christians is to have a relationship with him, i.e., to serve him in spirit and truth.”
Thank God for his children like Ravi Zacharias. May the Lord bless him and give him a long and fruitful life. His wish is “May the Lord bless you, make you his light in this world and keep your faith unshaken.” Amen.

11th Congress of The Union of Evangelical Christian Baptist Churches of Armenia

BAPTISTS WORSHIP TOGETHER

In August 10 -12 in Sevan town an 11th Congress took place for pastors and leaders of the Armenian Evangelical Christian Baptist Churches. 90 pastors and leaders from different regions of Armenia as well as from Artsakh (Karabakh) participated at the Congress. Different churches from different towns and villages have been gathered with one purpose and one goal, that is, the ministry of Jesus Christ. Our purpose is to proclaim and share God’s Word in Armenia and in the whole world. Our brothers are united by Holy Spirit towards ministries for God's Glory.
The participants of the Congress had opportunity to worship our Lord Jesus Christ in the unity and listen to the lectures by Rev. Dan Deaton - MIssion Director of Little River Baptist ASSN of North Carolina. Pastors Razmik Davtyan (Hrazdan) and Garnik Abreyan (Stepanakert) lectured how we can do ministry more effectively in our churches today. Brothers have been encouraged that God has called them to the ministry and He is faithful to keep His ministers and servants in all situations and difficulties. Lord Jesus takes care and leads His Church and His people.
Pastors from Ijevan, Charentsavan, Gyumri, Sisian, Goris and other churches shared and reported about their work, blessings and testimonies, as well as prayed for the local churches, for ministers and congregations.
We have much work to do as leaders and we have to go forward in the unity and faithfullness to Christ's Gospel as Lord Jesus has commanded.

ORDINATION IN STEPANAKERT

The First Baptist Church which was established in Armenia was in the historical Sushi town, Artsakh. Many brothers used to serve at that time. Dozens years later we can see the fulfillment of Christ’s words in Shushi, “I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it” (Matt. 16:18).
The proof of the truth of Christ’s words is the existence of a small group of strong and faithful believers in Stepanakert. This summer on August 3 an ordination ceremony took place in Stepanakert city for the pastoral ministry of brother Garnik Abreyan. Brothers and leaders of the the Union of the Evangelical Christian Baptist Churches of Armenia (the President of the Baptist Union Rev. Gagik Tarverdyan, Vice-president Rev. Razmik Davtyan, General Secretary of the Baptist Union Rev. Asatur Nahapetyan, pastors Rev. Grigor Chachoyan, Rev. Andranik Mikayelyan and Tigran Grigoryan) ordained brother Garnik and prayed for His pastoral ministry.
Before ordination brothers and the congregation of the Stepanakert church had a worship service. Pastors gave blessings and best wishes to brother Garnik for His family and for the whole congregation.

One of the first blessings after ordination was baptism of four people in Stepanakert on September 6. These new four believers took part in the worship service of the Holy Communion.

YOUTH CONFERENCE 2009

Remember also your Creator in the days of your youth, before the evil days come and the years draw near when you will say, "I have no delight in them"

Ecclesiastes 12:1

The Youth Conference/Seminar (May 21-23) was organized by the ECB Union of Armenia in Tsaghkadzor for youth of Armenia. Baptist churches of Armenia have invited 95 youth to the conference from Yerevan and other regions of Armenia. 15 churches took part in this conference. The purposes of this conference were:
Share the Gospel with youth; speak to them about Jesus Christ. They have heard that is very important to believe in Jesus especially when they are young.
Also there were new believers from churches; they have had good opportunities to know God better, to meet other believers. Many of them had a good chance to share the Gospel with others especially non believers. The Lord is calling the brothers and sisters to reach the youth and share the Gospel with them. During the conference people also heard the spiritual music and praising to the Lord.

Please pray for the youth of Armenia and for the youth of the world, so that they may listen to God’s Word and respond.

Youth Conference in Tsaghkadzor  2008, Armenia

The Youth Conference (September 12-13) was organized by the ECB Union of Armenia in Tsaghkadzor. The youth (65 people) from different regions of Armenia took part in the conference. The purposes of this conference were:

  1. How we can understand and find methods and tools that will help churches to reach the present-day youth.
  2. How we can recognize our spiritual gifts and talents, and how we can use these talents, gifts in our lives and ministries to get the best result.

During the conference the participants heard lectures about modern resources and tools, digital technology that captured youth of the whole world including Armenia.
This is not a secret that today’s youth very often uses the Internet, satellite television and other digital technologies. The lecturers showed how we could build the bridges connecting the unsaved youth with the church and God’s Living Word.
How to reach the youth who don’t even want to listen anything about God or other spiritual things.
The Lord is calling the brothers and sisters to reach the youth and share the Gospel with them. It’s time for them to put into practice the spiritual gifts and talents they have.
Today’s youth is addicted to modern technologies; they listen to music or watch films on CD, MP3, and DVD. We need to use these opportunities to offer them spiritual songs, films and any spiritual material which speaks about God, Jesus, and salvation. They don’t attend the church regularly but they can listen to these spiritual songs and films. Today all of us can have a share in helping them.
Please pray for the youth of the world, so that they may listen to God’s Word. Pray also for the brothers and sisters who have calling in this ministry.
