FOR ORPHANS OF KARABAKH

The Evangelical Christian Baptist Church of Armenia has initiated a charitable ministry for orphans in Nagorno Karabakh. The church in the capital city of Stepanakert, as well as the Church in Yerevan, is committed to helping orphans in the Karabakh region. Church members, including children, are doing everything they can to help.  Already they have collected 217 shoe boxes with needed items as well as some clothing.  The brothers and sisters are excited by this new ministry venture and are gladly giving and doing everything possible to help.  The Church is praying that this much needed ministry will help many needy orphan children and continue for many years.

ORDINATION IN STEPANAKERT 2009

The First Baptist Church which was established in Armenia was in the historical Sushi town, Artsakh. Many brothers used to serve at that time. Dozens years later we can see the fulfillment of Christ’s words in Shushi, “I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it” (Matt. 16:18).
The proof of the truth of Christ’s words is the existence of a small group of strong and faithful believers in Stepanakert. This summer on August 3 an ordination ceremony took place in Stepanakert city for the pastoral ministry of brother Garnik Abreyan. Brothers and leaders of the the Union of the Evangelical Christian Baptist Churches of Armenia (the President of the Baptist Union Rev. Gagik Tarverdyan, Vice-president Rev. Razmik Davtyan, General Secretary of the Baptist Union Rev. Asatur Nahapetyan, pastors Rev. Grigor Chachoyan, Rev. Andranik Mikayelyan and Tigran Grigoryan) ordained brother Garnik and prayed for His pastoral ministry.
Before ordination brothers and the congregation of the Stepanakert church had a worship service. Pastors gave blessings and best wishes to brother Garnik for His family and for the whole congregation.

One of the first blessings after ordination was baptism of four people in Stepanakert on September 6. These new four believers took part in the worship service of the Holy Communion.

11th Congress of The Union of Evangelical Christian Baptist Churches of Armenia

In August 10 -12 in Sevan town an 11th Congress took place for pastors and leaders of the Armenian Evangelical Christian Baptist Churches. 90 pastors and leaders from different regions of Armenia as well as from Artsakh (Karabakh) participated at the Congress. Different churches from different towns and villages have been gathered with one purpose and one goal, that is, the ministry of Jesus Christ. Our purpose is to proclaim and share God’s Word in Armenia and in the whole world. Our brothers are united by Holy Spirit towards ministries for God's Glory.
The participants of the Congress had opportunity to worship our Lord Jesus Christ in the unity and listen to the lectures by Rev. Dan Deaton - MIssion Director of Little River Baptist ASSN of North Carolina. Pastors Razmik Davtyan (Hrazdan) and Garnik Abreyan (Stepanakert) lectured how we can do ministry more effectively in our churches today. Brothers have been encouraged that God has called them to the ministry and He is faithful to keep His ministers and servants in all situations and difficulties. Lord Jesus takes care and leads His Church and His people.
Pastors from Ijevan, Charentsavan, Gyumri, Sisian, Goris and other churches shared and reported about their work, blessings and testimonies, as well as prayed for the local churches, for ministers and congregations.
We have much work to do as leaders and we have to go forward in the unity and faithfullness to Christ's Gospel as Lord Jesus has commanded.

EBWU Conference in Yerevan

On April 3, 2009, a sister’s conference took place in Yerevan, in the Central Church, organized by the European Baptist Women’s Union ( EBWU). Seven sisters (Livija Lame, Margun Warem, Aniko Ujvari, Elizabeth Vekas, Wies Dijkstra, Margaret Brown, Susana Mefford) from seven different European countries arrived in Armenia and among them was the president of EBWU, Livija Lame. The topic of the conference was how the sisters can serve not only in churches, but also out of them.
Sisters from all over Armenia and Javakhk (Georgia) were invited to take part in the conference. There were over three hundred participants.
Guest speakers told their testimonies and shared their experience about how to lead services in churches, how to help the aged ones, ill ones and the children from non-believer families, and also how to organize work with orphans and the victims of human trafficking. One of the main points was also about how we can give our finances and abilities for God’s glory. After that time was given for personal conversation and prayers. According to the words of the members of that group their aim was to encourage Armenian sisters to serve to God in unity at home, in work place and everywhere where God leads them.

YOUTH CONFERENCE 2009

Remember also your Creator in the days of your youth, before the evil days come and the years draw near when you will say, "I have no delight in them"

Ecclesiastes 12:1

The Youth Conference/Seminar (May 21-23) was organized by the ECB Union of Armenia in Tsaghkadzor for youth of Armenia. Baptist churches of Armenia have invited 95 youth to the conference from Yerevan and other regions of Armenia. 15 churches took part in this conference. The purposes of this conference were:
Share the Gospel with youth; speak to them about Jesus Christ. They have heard that is very important to believe in Jesus especially when they are young.
Also there were new believers from churches; they have had good opportunities to know God better, to meet other believers. Many of them had a good chance to share the Gospel with others especially non believers. The Lord is calling the brothers and sisters to reach the youth and share the Gospel with them. During the conference people also heard the spiritual music and praising to the Lord.

Please pray for the youth of Armenia and for the youth of the world, so that they may listen to God’s Word and respond.

Youth Conference in Tsaghkadzor  2008, Armenia

The Youth Conference (September 12-13) was organized by the ECB Union of Armenia in Tsaghkadzor. The youth (65 people) from different regions of Armenia took part in the conference. The purposes of this conference were:

  1. How we can understand and find methods and tools that will help churches to reach the present-day youth.
  2. How we can recognize our spiritual gifts and talents, and how we can use these talents, gifts in our lives and ministries to get the best result.

During the conference the participants heard lectures about modern resources and tools, digital technology that captured youth of the whole world including Armenia.
This is not a secret that today’s youth very often uses the Internet, satellite television and other digital technologies. The lecturers showed how we could build the bridges connecting the unsaved youth with the church and God’s Living Word.
How to reach the youth who don’t even want to listen anything about God or other spiritual things.
The Lord is calling the brothers and sisters to reach the youth and share the Gospel with them. It’s time for them to put into practice the spiritual gifts and talents they have.
Today’s youth is addicted to modern technologies; they listen to music or watch films on CD, MP3, and DVD. We need to use these opportunities to offer them spiritual songs, films and any spiritual material which speaks about God, Jesus, and salvation. They don’t attend the church regularly but they can listen to these spiritual songs and films. Today all of us can have a share in helping them.
Please pray for the youth of the world, so that they may listen to God’s Word. Pray also for the brothers and sisters who have calling in this ministry.

Summer Camp 2008 in Aghveran

The Union of ECB churches of Armenia organized summer camp for children from July 7 to August 4 this year. By God's love and faithfulness this camp came true. About 500 children from 8-14 age group participated in the camp. The goal of the camp was to tell children about Jesus that they might know Him and love Him more then anything else in life. The children like to hear biblical stories about Jesus Christ. The Lord also provided different teaching materials, lessons and all things that were necessary to teach the children clearly, particularly object lessons, which were helpful for the explanation of the Bible lessons.
We taught 6 parables of Jesus Christ. The children learned about the importance of repentance, faith and the armour of salvation in order to build up their lives on the Word of God. In the evenings there was a teaching on prayer. Before going to bed they had a discussion in the small groups. At the end of each week we had a special evening event. The children were well cared for and loved, that's why the most of the children didn't want to leave the camp. God blessed this camp by His presence and by keeping us from evil and trials.

We enjoyed God's blessings during the summer camp. The personnel of the camp were in unity, love and in harmony with each other. All things were well done by our God of Love and Faithfulness. Praise the Lord for all blessings! Please pray that every child continue his/her life with Jesus.

Hankavan Summer Camp 2007

We had many blessings in August. Many times we were witnesses of the ways God had kept His children in difficult situations. The Lord bestowed His blessings on us so we had many witnesses of God's miracles and His almighty hand. There were 336 children in the summer camp. We praise the Lord for peace we had during those three weeks in Hankavan. The difficulties we faced in the summer camp made our brothers and sisters closer to each other through the power of prayer. This is also God's grace. Five children didn't want to receive Christ as well as 11 children left the camp (on the first or the second day of the camp) because of different reasons (sickness, longing for a home and so on).
I was the person in charge of the camp and as I looked at the work that had been done, I was excited about it. Praise the Lord! This is also God's grace that He blesses us in many ways.
Once we announced to the children that we're going to give them the New Testimonies, and they were so happy. At the end of the camp we were invited from another camp to participate in their last day bonfire. We told them if we came we would sing two spiritual songs. They agreed and we went. I was so encouraged to see how the children were singing without shame or fear. The next day they allowed us to give them the New Testimonies but before they had rejected us. This is also God's grace and we give praise to Him (Rom. 8:31). There were many blessings about which I didn't write to you but we're aware of them, how He blessed us and led us for His glory. God bless you, too!

Ordination in 2008

Then saith he unto his disciples. The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest. (Mt.9:37-38)

The churches are badly in need of spiritual labourers who will be ready to take care of God’s people. According to the needs of our churches and the answers to our prayers seven brothers were ordained. They were anointed for the service of deacon in the local churches. Seven pastors and the members of the churches participated in this ceremony. Three of seven brothers are the deacons of the Yerevan churches, two are the deacons of the Ashtarak church, one is the deacon of the Armavir church, and the last one is the deacon of Akhltskha church, which is in Georgia. May God be glorified! Amen.

Pastors' Conference in Sevan

How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity.

(Psalm 133:1)

Every year The Union of the Evangelical Christian Baptist Churches of Armenia organizes Seminar/Congress for pastors and leaders of the churches. At this summer also we had seminar/congress in Sevan. The congress attended 92 pastors, leaders and ministers.
The purposes of this meeting are:
  • to worship God in unity
  • to know about churches in different areas of Armenia, what kind of blessings and difficulties they have
  • to pray for churches, pastors and ministers
  • to discus about future projects and ministries
  • to hear reports from mission field and leadership

This congress was 10th since 1998. And every year members of congress are increasing in number, because the Lord blesses His work. Because of financial difficulties we could not invite many others. Praise the Lord for brothers who took part in congress. This year two new brothers from Karabakh could attend in congress. They have shared about church life in Karabakh.

Please pray for Armenia and churches of  Baptist Union of Armenia.
